Spycherberg
The grazing area of the lowest Justistaler Alp is concentrated at an altitude of 1180 to 1460 m above sea level. The pasture area of the lowest Justistaler Alp is concentrated at an altitude of 1180 to 1460 m above sea level on the evenly steep south-eastern flank, the uppermost parts of which reach as far as the rock faces of the Oberbergli. The lower slope is not too steep and ring-going; the upper slope is steeper and is used in three moves. The soil is mostly deep, fertile and yields good fodder.
WAYS TO THE ALP
By car, drive from Gunten via Sigriswil - or from Interlaken via Beatenberg - to Grön (car park at 1124 m, no driving from here). From there it takes about 30 minutes on foot to reach the cheese store and the alpine hut, following the mountain hiking trail signs into the valley. The approach from Merligen leads very steeply through orchards, forest and gorge, following the Grönbach stream or on secondary routes to the alpine hut in just under 3 hours (Hiking Book 3100, Route 20). From the Sigriswil post bus stop (810 m) you can reach the alp in 2 hours on a road or mountain-marked side routes or from Beatenberg in 1.5 hours on the road (attention: unlit road tunnel 350 m long) and from Grön as above.

SPECIAL
The Spycherberg is named for 22 cows' rights. It is called this because the four sturdy cheese stores of the higher alps stand there by the road. Three of them are double granaries, an impressive sight. The cheese store at Spycherberg itself is further up near the hut.
LEGAL FORM/OWNER
Alpine cooperative with about 20 alpine representatives, which also manages the alp.
