Pedal beside Lake Thun
Two routes, one destination - those cycling from Thun to Interlaken are spoilt for choice: at lofty heights or close to the water.
If you're a sporty racer, you'll opt for the high-altitude ride. From Thun you head towards Steffisburg, dripping with sweat up to the balcony of Lake Thun, past Heiligenschwendi. Again and again you are overwhelmed by the panorama of the lake, the pyramid of the Niesen and the proud four-thousand-metre peaks. Up and down in flower meadows. Almost alpine and far from the noise, the Justistal, then the sunny terraced village of Beatenberg. After a final ride via Unterseen you reach the Alpine town of Interlaken.
As a leisurely cyclist, you ride along the generously laid-out cycle path along the lake to Interlaken. On the way, marvel at the panorama on the opposite side of the lake: the Niederhorn, the Beaten Bay, the Sigriswilergrat or the pretty villages on the hillside. Enjoy the view of the lake, delight in the great crested grebe, a proud family of swans or even the pollen that turns the shore of the otherwise deep blue lake yellowish.
