Our employees are important to us

With over 300 employees, the Hauenstein Hotels s are among the largest employers in the Lake Thun region. They focus on the advancement and professional development of their employees through extensive expertise and targeted training.
Hauenstein Hotels . includes three hotels and six restaurants around Lake Thun. Each establishment has its own business concept and is thus distinguished by its uniqueness. The offerings range from restaurants with family-friendly menus to high-quality Swiss cuisine and three- to four-star superior hotels. “This also benefits our apprentices. Depending on their interests, they gain insights into the various establishments. This allows them to further expand their knowledge and become familiar with different types and sizes of businesses while still in training,” says David Romanato, General Manager of Hauenstein Hotels. Training young professionals is a top priority for the family-run company. In total, apprentices are trained in more than seven different and diverse professions. “Our apprentices are the future leaders of tomorrow, and especially in today’s world, it’s important to offer young people a good apprenticeship,” says David Romanato.
Employees are offered a pleasant and innovative work environment. “Talent is specifically nurtured, and we strive for collaborative career planning,” says David Romanato. A prime example is the current hotel manager at the Belvédère Strandhotel in Spiez. Bruno Affentranger began his career in 2011 as an intern from the Thun Hotel Management School at the front desk of the Belvédère Strandhotel. Gradually, he took on more and more responsibility and was already managing the four-star-superior hotel as co-director by 2014. Since 2018, he has been successfully running the hotel, with its wonderful location in Spiez, as its director.

Hauenstein Hotels , in particular, places great emphasis on a healthy work-life balance. “Workdays in the hotel and hospitality industries are demanding and can sometimes be long. It’s important to us that our employees have a good balance between challenges and relaxation,” says Nathalie Hauenstein, Managing Director of Hauenstein Hotels, who recently completed training to become a corporate mentor and coach. Among other things, employees are offered part-time positions, and people looking to re-enter the workforce are also welcome at the Hauenstein Hotels . Employees also benefit from attractive additional benefits within the hotel group.
Hauenstein Hotels is known for its family-like work environment. Every employee is viewed as an important part of the team and valued accordingly. This is due in no small part to the long history of this family-owned business. Since its founding in 1954 by Walther Hauenstein, the Hauenstein Group—which includes Hauenstein Hotels —has played an active role in the development of the Lake Thun region and has created several hundred jobs. In 2020, Peter Hauenstein handed over leadership of the Hauenstein Group to his twin daughters, Nathalie and Andrea Hauenstein, as well as to Daniel Eschmann, the long-time managing director of Hauenstein Immobilien AG. The Hauenstein Group operates in the real estate, hotel and restaurant, healthcare, and coaching sectors and has been building on the values of expertise, passion, and trust for nearly 70 years.
