Magical - the castles in the Lake Thun region
It's no secret that the region around Lake Thun is a fairytale. The numerous castles play a major part in this. They not only look beautiful, but also exude a romantic charm. There is just as much on offer for history buffs as there is for culinary enthusiasts and families.
Thun Castle
Thun Castle is the largest and probably best-known castle in the region. Together with the mountain panorama, it is the town's landmark. The snow-white castle, which is reminiscent of Grimm's fairy tales or Disney films, stands on the castle hill of the same name. The centuries-old halls and rooms of the castle can be visited all year round. The museum has an interesting exhibition on the history of the castle. For the very brave, scary stories are read aloud a few times a year, at night in the museum.
