A day with Nathalie Hauenstein: A look behind the scenes

Who is Nathalie Hauenstein?
Nathalie Hauenstein is not only a co-owner and member of the executive board, but also one of the driving forces behind the Hauenstein Group.
As Managing Director of Hauenstein Hotels , she bears overall responsibility for the strategic and operational management of the hotel group. She shapes the group’s future development and oversees key areas such as corporate development, communications, and human resources. A central part of her role is leading and supporting the property managers and executives across the group. In addition, she serves as a business mentor through Hauenstein Coaching and helps executives navigate professional challenges.
Eight years ago, at the age of 27, Nathalie joined the family business and took on the role of Deputy Director of Hotel Management. Since then, her role has steadily expanded, and today she plays a key role in the continued growth and success of the Hauenstein Group.

A typical day in the life of Nathalie Hauenstein
Nathalie's days are never the same, yet a "typical" day might be like this:
In the morning: The day begins at the Hauenstein Immobilien AG office in Gunten, the Hauenstein Group’s headquarters. Nathalie also provides feedback on various promotional materials for a rebranding project and reviews plans for a feasibility study on a hotel renovation. She uses the quiet of the morning to make strategic decisions, guide creative processes, and drive the hotel group’s continued development.
Morning: This is followed by a management meeting with the three-member committee consisting of Nathalie Hauenstein, Andrea Hauenstein and Daniel Eschmann. Topics such as digitalization and ongoing group projects are on the agenda. These meetings are essential for coordinating the company's strategic direction.
Afterwards, Nathalie has an online meeting with her team to discuss the advertising materials she reviewed in the morning. This is followed by a video shoot with her sister Andrea Hauenstein to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Hauenstein Immobilien AG.

Lunch: Nathalie uses her lunch break to eat with team members in one of the companies. This encourages interaction and strengthens the team spirit.
Afternoon: She then takes a drive around Lake Thun to hold Hauenstein Hotels next—usually monthly—management meeting with the executive team and the general manager at another Hauenstein Hotels property. This ensures the flow of information and promotes synergies and streamlined decision-making processes.
Evening: The day ends with a keynote speech on the topic; Leading from within; Inner strength - outer impact in Thun, where Nathalie shares and passes on her knowledge and views. Such events are important in order to communicate the vision and goals of the Hauenstein Group to the outside world and provide new impetus.

Nathalie appreciates the diversity of her work. She loves using her skills in different areas and contributing to topics such as brand development or the further development of real estate. She is particularly enthusiastic about working with people because she firmly believes that working together is the key to success.

Networked thinking is the be-all and end-all in Nathalie's position. The diversity of the companies and industries in which the Hauenstein Group operates constantly presents new challenges. A quick grasp of things is essential to keep pace in a rapidly changing world. But the most important thing is to be positive and forward-looking in your dealings with others.
