Modern Corporate Management

The third international Speaker Slam took place at the end of May. Experts from 19 countries gave short presentations on a wide variety of topics. Nathalie Hauenstein from Thun, a member of the Hauenstein Group’s executive board, won the Excellence Award for her presentation.
Nathalie Hauenstein, what motivated you to participate in the Speaker Slam?
What motivated me the most was the chance to inspire people with my story and message. Of course, I also love stepping out of my comfort zone and growing through new challenges.

What was the speech about? And how did you manage to impress the jury so much?
In my speech, I took the audience on a personal journey, because, after all, it’s always stories that inspire, move, and excite people. I spoke about my own experiences and challenges as a leader in today’s constantly changing world. I also discussed why I’m convinced that the solution for leaders navigating the modern world isn’t to shape the environment so that it exerts less pressure, but rather to build the skills needed to remain healthy and productive within that environment.
"New patterns of thinking and behavior are encouraged, and unconscious resources are tapped to help find solutions."

Coaching is a new addition to the Hauenstein Group's portfolio. What does that entail?
Coaching is always tailored to the client’s goals and is therefore highly personalized. For the most part, it focuses on developing solutions to overcome professional and business challenges. My coaching sessions are process-, goal-, and solution-oriented and include additional consulting and training elements. Sessions take place in the unique facilities of the Hauenstein Hotels, at the client’s location, or online, and typically last half a day or a full day. The goal is to broaden the client’s field of perception using various intervention methods and support tools. New patterns of thought and action are encouraged, and unconscious resources are tapped to facilitate problem-solving.
Why is this kind of coaching important, especially these days?
People are at the heart of many services, and healthy, motivated employees are a key factor in the success and performance of many companies. In addition, in today’s VUCA world, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain a broad perspective while remaining focused. A corporate mentor (consultant, coach, and trainer) can support the process of finding solutions by drawing on a high level of expertise in processes and methodologies.
What should modern corporate leadership look like?
In principle, based on my own experience, I can say that it’s not about throwing out the tried-and-true principles of corporate management, but rather about making specific adjustments that take the changed circumstances into account. For example, there is now a greater focus on employees’ self-efficacy. Leaders communicate visions, values, and goals and align each individual’s actions with them. They place trust in their team members, create room for autonomy, and foster the strengths of individual team members so that the best possible results can be achieved.
