Family history: In conversation with Damaris & Andrea Horisberger

Some stories are written by life and sometimes the pieces of the puzzle fit together in a way that you would hardly have thought possible. Andrea and Damaris Horisberger met in Lucerne, worked side by side in the hotel industry and eventually found each other both professionally and personally. Today they are part of the Hauenstein Group and are shaping their future on Lake Thun.
Same surname but no sisters?
The two are not sisters, but have been married for a year and a half. A misunderstanding that they often encounter with a twinkle in their eyes. The two met in Lucerne. Damaris, originally from the Thun region, moved to Lucerne to attend hotel management school. Andrea attended hotel management school in Tyrol and traveled the world. Eventually their paths crossed at the same hotel in Lucerne.
What brought them (back) to the Lake Thun region?
Her return to the Lake Thun region was no coincidence, but rather the result of a job offer from Andrea Hauenstein for Damaris as Head of Finance. She says with a smile:
"Luckily Andrea just came along"
By chance and a bit of luck, the position of Chef de Reception became vacant at the Solbadhotel Sigriswil. Andrea was still working in a café in Bern at the time. However, she missed the hustle and bustle and the variety at the hotel reception. So she didn't have to wait long to apply and now she too was part of the Hauenstein Group.
What it's like to work as a couple for the same company
Even though they are now both working under the same roof again, the situation is different. Their tasks are now clearly separated within the Hauenstein Group. Damaris drives the Group's finance department forward and Andrea looks after the Solbad guests on the front line. And that's a good thing, they say with a grin:
"Fewer points of contact also mean less potential for conflict"
However, they both share a common goal: they want to make a difference. Damaris uses her scope to improve processes and drive forward digitalization in the area of finance. Andrea, on the other hand, works with her team to ensure that guests' stay at the Solbadhotel is not only smooth, but also welcoming.
