Hauenstein Hotels – Where You Feel at Home

The hotel group comprises three exclusive four- to five-star hotels on Lake Thun, accommodations in idyllic rural settings, and six restaurants in the Lake Thun region. With a total of 234 hotel rooms, suites, apartments, and luxury lakeside villas, as well as over 300 employees, the Hauenstein Hotels is one of the largest hotel groups and employers in the Bernese Oberland.
One Big Family With a corporate culture based on competence, passion, and trust, the Hauenstein Hotels has been a true partner and supporter of its employees and the Lake Thun region for over 70 years. The Hauenstein Group, which also includes Hauenstein Hotels , is 100 percent family-owned. The corporate culture and philosophy were strongly shaped by the first and second generations of the Hauenstein family and are currently being further developed by the third generation.
“Our core values have guided us for 70 years in everything we do,” says Nathalie Hauenstein, Managing Director of Hauenstein Hotels. “Our employees are at the heart of our success,” Nathalie continues. That’s why they strive to build long-term relationships with their employees and offer development opportunities in a supportive work environment. In doing so, Hauenstein Hotels goes beyond the professional sphere and also supports its employees with personal matters, such as finding an apartment or a house, or planning for retirement.
A family-owned business for people from all walks of life “We have an employee, Simone Trachsel, who has been working for the Hauenstein Hotels in the service department of the Belvédère Strandhotel and the Burehuus restaurant since 2010. She started out working part-time because her children were still young and she needed to devote more time to her family. As her children grew older, she gradually increased her hours and remains part of our team to this day!” says Nathalie. This is just one of many examples of long-term employees within the group. But that’s not all: “Her son Alexander completed his EFZ culinary apprenticeship at the Burehuus Restaurant and subsequently worked at our Deltapark Vitalresort. Simone’s daughter Jennifer currently works at the front desk of the Belvédère Strandhotel,” says Nathalie
With seven different apprenticeship programs and support for career changers, the hotel group offers numerous opportunities for people with a wide variety of qualifications and backgrounds to begin their careers in the hotel and restaurant industry. “We want to provide a work environment where employees feel comfortable and valued and can fully develop their talents,” Nathalie emphasizes.
To promote everyone’s well-being and health, they offer training on topics such as addiction prevention, sleep, mental health, stress management, and workplace ergonomics, as well as free health checkups. In addition, they cover the costs of participating in sporting events. This year, employees of the Hauenstein Hotels will once again take part in the “bike to work Challenge,” the Thun City Run, and the Bern Grand Prix—and they’ll be easy to spot in their Hauenstein Group team shirts.
A Love for the Lake Thun Region “Our employees and our guests should feel at home in the region and enjoy spending time here,” says Nathalie Hauenstein. By supporting local events such as the Thunerseespiele, the Inferno Triathlon, the Seaside Festival Spiez, the Music Days in Steffisburg, and the Thuner Wasserzauber, the Hauenstein Hotels contribute to the region’s diversity and quality of life and enhance its appeal to tourists. With their long-standing commitment, diversity, and corporate culture, the Hauenstein Hotels s play a central role in the Bernese Oberland and are a major employer for the region.
