Romantic winter day in the Lake Thun region
The snow crunches under your shoes, a cold wind turns your nose slightly red and the view of the snow-covered mountains almost takes your breath away - it's time for a romantic winter's day in the Lake Thun region.
Thun - the perfect starting point
The town of Thun is known as the "Gateway to the Bernese Oberland" for good reason. The mountains of the Bernese Alps rise up all around the town. This makes Thun the ideal starting point for a winter's day in the snow. Whether on foot or by public transport, romance is guaranteed.
Thun exudes a romantic atmosphere all year round. With the nostalgic architecture in the town center, especially in the Obere Hauptgasse, and the twinkling lights in winter, Thun is a town where it is wonderful to stroll through the alleyways.
Romantic carriage ride in Interlaken
The day begins with a half-hour train ride from Thun to Interlaken. We travel along the shores of Lake Thun towards the Bernese Oberland. To save some energy for the rest of the day, Interlaken is not explored on foot but by horse-drawn carriage. The carriage swings through the tourist town for an hour, taking in the view of the snow-covered Bernese Alps. The journey also includes a visit to the idyllic village of Unterseen. A path leads along the blue Aare back to the station.

Ice skating in the moonlight
For those who like things a little more active, don't take the train to Interlaken, but walk to the Grabengut artificial ice rink. The outdoor rink is a wonderful place to skate. Skates can be hired on site. Skating in the moonlight - this is possible on the Grabengut artificial ice rink. At selected times (see opening times) you can glide hand in hand over the ice in the moonlight.

Leaving tracks in the snow
Another option for the perfect day full of romance is a hike in the snow. High above Lake Thun, in Aeschi, the winter circular hiking trail leads across the snow-covered hills and fields. If the fog obscures your view in Thun, there is a good chance that the winter sun will warm your spirits in Aeschi.
From Spiez, take the bus to Aeschi, where the easy two-hour hike begins. The Niesen, also known as the Swiss Pyramid, is in view almost the entire time. The bus then takes you back to Thun, where the evening program awaits.
