Romantic tête-à-tête - boat trip on Lake Thun

If you are looking for a romantic tête-à-tête of a special kind, you will find it on an evening cruise on the nostalgic steamboat "Blümlisalp" on Lake Thun. During the summer months, you can book this offer from Tuesday to Saturday and enjoy a very special evening.

The Schiffländte in Thun, just opposite the train station, is bustling with people on a beautiful summer evening. Many people want to treat themselves to a relaxing evening on Lake Thun, switch off and forget the little worries of everyday life for a moment. Shortly before the ship's departure at 6.40 pm, the doors are opened and the captain and his crew welcome the guests on board the time-honoured steamship.

For the Tête-à-Tête offer, a small pretty room on the main deck of the ship is reserved, the so-called "Damensaloni". In this intimate atmosphere, a beautifully laid table, decorated with flowers and pretty tableware, awaits - and the anticipation of an enjoyable time out with an exclusive menu rises.

Punctually at 6.40 p.m. the engines start pounding, the ship's horn sounds and the captain on the bridge gives the command for departure. The ship leisurely sails out of the canal, past Schadau Castle and onto Lake Thun - the culinary journey begins. For the aperitif, the friendly waiter brings us a glass of sparkling champagne and a delicious amuse-bouche, a first greeting from the on-board kitchen. Until the service of the menu begins, we allow ourselves a short detour to the upper deck and enjoy the impressive atmosphere over the lake.

Shortly after Hilterfingen we return to the "Stübli" where the wonderful meal awaits us; for starters we are served a raw marinated salmon tartare with lime, ginger, avocado and wasabi, accompanied by a still lukewarm crispy brioche. For starters, we treat ourselves to a sparkling glass of Spiez white wine from the region.

Before the main course, we take another look at the wine list and enjoy a nice red wine. On the beautifully arranged plate we are served Gürbentaler beef fillet with Bernaise sauce, potatoes and fresh market vegetables. The meal tastes delicious.

Meanwhile, the ship is already heading across the lake from Spiez towards Gunten. Before dessert - we are served a lukewarm chocolate tartlet with summer fruits and vanilla ice cream - we go to the upper deck once more and enjoy the wonderful sunset in a mild evening breeze.

Before we return to the port of Thun shortly before half past nine, we have a final coffee with fine friandises. Happy and satisfied, we leave the "Blüemlere" and will remember the romantic evening on Lake Thun for a long time to come.
