"Ärdbeerele" - the most beautiful fields for picking strawberries in the Lake Thun region
Although strawberries are now unfortunately available to buy almost all year round, they are still best from Switzerland and best picked yourself. There are also some good spots in the region around Lake Thun. Here, the early riser definitely has an advantage. Since usually only certain sections of the fields are open to the public each day, the strawberries are quickly "picked empty". It is best to bring your own container. This can be a bowl, a basket or a cardboard box. Just make sure you have enough space for your delicious strawberries.
As soon as you arrive at the field, your container is weighed empty. When you have collected enough strawberries for yourself, the basket is weighed again and the empty weight is deducted. You then only pay for the weight of the fine strawberries.
Amsoldingen
The farm of the Kipfer family is located a little outside the village of Amsoldingen with its 800 inhabitants, far away from the heavy traffic, directly at the foot of the Stockhorn. It is a ten-minute drive from Thun. The magnificent view of the Stockhorn chain and the three mountain giants Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau is admired especially often by the hard-working strawberry pickers.

Spiez
Not far from Spiez Bay is the Peter family's self-picking field. Here you can not only pick your own strawberries in spring, but also buy seasonal vegetables all year round in the farm shop. Afterwards, you can walk along the beautiful beach path from Spiez to Faulensee, along Lake Thun, for example. There's also enough time for a short detour to the Captain's Bar at the Belvédère Strandhotel.

More ideas
What are you going to do with your fine little red fruits? We have put together a few ideas for you here:
- Just eat. If freshly collected, you want to experience the full flavour.
- Chocolate fondue. Melt the dark chocolate and dip the strawberries in it.
- Make jam. A bit more work, but you'll be happy about it at breakfast.
- Baking. Of course, there are countless possibilities. From roulades to muffins to strawberry shortcake.
- Glacé. With the necessary equipment, you can also make your own strawberry ice cream.
- Frappé. Milk, ice cream, strawberries, sugar - and your strawberry frappé is ready.
So if you've almost forgotten how delicious strawberries ripened by the Swiss sun taste, get going! Whether Spiez or Amsoldingen, both places will make your strawberry heart beat faster.
