Simmental Beer - A Partnership of Equals

For about ten years now, the relationship Hauenstein Hotels Simmentaler Bier has been much more than just a traditional supplier-customer relationship. It is a partnership based on shared values: quality, honesty, regional focus, and a genuine passion for the craft. What began as a collaboration has evolved over the years into a partnership of equals, featuring shared ideas, creative projects, and products that leave a lasting impression on our guests.
In this video interview, David Ziörjen explains what really matters in a partnership like this:
Crafts from the Simmental Valley
Located in the heart of Lenk in the Simmental, Simmentaler Bier has been brewing distinctive beers since 2014, combining a great deal of manual labor with dedication. Today, about 18 employees work at the small brewery, which deliberately focuses on artisanal brewing.
"We brew our beer using traditional methods, which results in naturally cloudy beers with more nutrients and a flavor that is clearly distinct from industrially produced beers."
It is precisely this uncompromising commitment to quality that links Simmentaler Beer with the Hauenstein Hotels.
Shared Values as a Foundation
Whether in the hotel industry, the restaurant business, or beer brewing, both companies follow the same philosophy: the highest quality with a strong regional focus.
“We believe in honesty, transparency, and partnership on equal terms,” says David. “This works Hauenstein Hotels well with Hauenstein Hotels because both of us are committed to high quality.”
Regionality also plays a key role in this. Both Simmentaler Bier and the Hauenstein Hotels to creating jobs in the region and work with regional partners and service providers whenever possible. This approach makes the partnership authentic and sustainable.
Creative Collaboration: The Mango Ale
This close collaboration is particularly evident in their joint product ideas. One highlight is the popular Mango Ale. The inspiration for it came in 2018 during a trip to California. Together with Marco Hächler, the former executive chef of the Belvédère Strandhotel, Simmentaler Bier then developed a Swiss take on this fruity beer. The result pairs perfectly with the cuisine at Restaurant Deltaverde.
"The sweetness of the mango pairs perfectly with the spiciness of the dishes, creating a perfect harmony."
Alcohol-free with a full flavor
The market for non-alcoholic beers is growing steadily. Simmentaler Bier is responding to this trend with a constantly expanding product lineup. The non-alcoholic range now includes several varieties, such as lager, Märzen, pale ale, and, most recently, the non-alcoholic mango ale. This variety is becoming increasingly important, especially in the hospitality industry—whether for connoisseurs, athletes, or guests who consciously choose to enjoy non-alcoholic beverages.
Beer as an Experience
To mark the 10th anniversary of the Deltapark Vitalresort, Hauenstein Hotels with Simmentaler Bier to create a commemorative beer with a custom label.
"You pick up the beer—it's personal and emotional—and those are exactly the kinds of experiences that stick with you."
Here, too, we see the similar philosophy shared by Simmentaler Bier and the Hauenstein Hotels. The goal is not simply to offer products, but to provide guests with authentic experiences. After a decade of successful collaboration, we look forward to the future with enthusiasm.
Here's to the next ten years!
