Too good to go - a sign against food waste
The topic of food waste is on everyone's lips. 2.8 million tonnes of food end up in the rubbish in Switzerland every year. This corresponds to 330 kilograms per person and year. These figures leave no questions unanswered - we must act, and we must act together.
The Hauenstein Group is also concerned about this and tries to act ecologically in its companies. For example, the businesses participate in the "United Against Waste" project. The Burehuus restaurant also participates in the successful Too Good To Go concept.

You have probably already seen the blue-green flower-like label. More and more businesses, including large companies like Coop and Migros, are taking part. The principle is simple: instead of throwing away leftovers, they are passed on to consumers at an attractive price. Behind it is a Danish company that has grown strongly in recent years. After 3.5 years, Too Good To Go has already saved 29 million meals from the bin in 15 countries.
The Burehuus restaurant is also taking part in this good cause. Every noon, the restaurant offers its guests various lunch menus including a salad buffet. It is impossible to estimate the quantity of the menus in such a way that it fits in exactly with the number of guests. Also, the guest wants to have the whole selection for the whole lunch. And so there is usually something left over from the freshly cooked menu at the end. In the Too Good To Go app, the establishment can enter the amount left over and determine the pick-up time. As a rescuer, you have the option of bringing your own dishes or purchasing take-away dishes from Burehuus for a small surcharge. You don't know in advance what will be saved in the end. We will simply serve whatever is left over on the day. Also, the food does not necessarily have to be delivered warm. So be prepared to heat up your saved food before you can enjoy it.
In most cases, the company determines an average value in advance, which is entered daily. If, for example, there are usually two portions left over, this value is stored as the default value. However, it is possible for the business to adjust this information at any time. Even if the guest has already reserved his portion. If everything is eaten on the spot after all, the restaurant can subsequently cancel the rescuer's order.
It is not the aim of Too Good To Go that a restaurant earns money through this. The price paid by the rescuer goes directly to Too Good To Go and to the restaurant. In this way, the cost of goods is covered.
You can download the app to your smartphone and start saving food right away. Enter your location and the desired radius and leave a payment method. You don't have to pay anything at the restaurant. The whole process runs directly through Too Good To Go. So if you don't feel like cooking for once and want to do something good for the environment at the same time? Open the Too Good To Go app and off you go!
